Cal Johnson, age 54, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Monday, May 21, 2012 at his home in Storm Lake. Calvin Lee Johnson was born January 26, 1958, in Newton, Iowa, the son of Chelsea and Marjorie (Anderson) Johnson. At the age of 15, his mother married Raymond Burras of Kanawha, Iowa. Cal attended and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1976. Following graduation, Cal attended Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, before graduating from Buena Vista College in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management.

On March 13, 1993, Cal married Joy Johnson at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. A member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Cal was active in the Storm Lake community and worked as the Drivers’ License Examiner for Buena Vista County. He enjoyed going to the beach, riding his motorcycle, and an occasional round of golf. Helping anyone and everyone in need, he also became known as Cal-Fix-It for his ability as a handyman. He could easily make people laugh and would always put a smile on their faces. In addition, he enjoyed entertaining family and friends and was widely known for his "Cal Corn" which was never in short supply. Most of all, Cal enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends, especially with his triplet grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Joy Johnson, of Storm Lake; his daughter, Jodie (Phil) Lee, of Grimes, Iowa; his step-sons: Nick (Cali) Sorbe and Adam Sorbe, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his grandchildren: Hannah, Bennett, and Alyssa Lee, of Grimes, Iowa; his step father, Raymond Burras, of Kanawha; and his brothers-in-law: Jerry (Jeanine) Meyer, Lee (Becky) Meyer, and Tom Meyer; as well as extended family and friends. Preceding Cal in death are his father, Chelsea Johnson, and his mother, Marjorie Burras.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., May 26, 2012, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Visitation: 4:00-8:00 p.m., May 25, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
