Laura Clara (Buhner) Wilde, the daughter of John G. and Rosa (Worby) Buhner, was born on October 2, 1908 in Fulda, Minnesota. She lived in Fulda for nine years, moving to Eagle Grove with her family in 1917, where they established the Eagle Grove Greenhouses. Laura was united in marriage to Cecil F. Wilde on July 1, 1937, in Eagle Grove. Cecil preceded her in death on September 25, 1990. Laura and Cecil were co-owners in the Eagle Grove Greenhouses. Laura was a florist for 42 years, retiring in 1973. Laura was a member of the United Methodist Church and UMW. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the JFF (Just For Fun) Club, Society of Iowa Florists and the Eagle Grove Chamber of Commerce. Laura enjoyed playing cards, games, and quilting.

Survivors include daughter Marilyn Helmick and husband Dean of Eagle Grove; sons, Clarence and wife Betty (Adams) Wilde of Eagle Grove, and Paul and wife Bev (Smith) Wilde of Eagle Grove; sister Freda Fisher of Eagle Grove; sister-in-law Delores Buhner of Eagle Grove; seven grandchildren, Deann (Helmick) Morgan and husband Dave of Eagle Grove, Denae (Helmick) Schaumburg and husband John of Albuquerque, NM, Dirk Helmick and wife Denise (Jorgenson) of Eagle Grove, Lynne (Wilde) Odland and husband Dan of Clarion, Chad Wilde and wife Ann (Russell) of Eagle Grove, Adam Wilde of Aurora, CO, and Emily Wilde of Cedar Falls, IA; 11 great-grandchildren; nephew Brian Buhner; and several great nieces and nephews.

Laura passed away on Monday, December 30, 2002, at her home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 94 years. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Cecil, sisters, Mae Thompson, Anna Nichols, Hattie Hansen, and Sadie Buhner, brothers, Charles Buhner, LeRoy Buhner, John Buhner and Clarence Buhner, great-grandson, Jared Schaumburg, and nieces, Arlene (Nichols) Olson and Virginia (Nichols) Egemo.

Funeral services will be held on Friday January 3, 2003 at 2 pm at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
