Adel, IA --- Harriett J. Becker of Adel, left this world on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee. Friends may call between 5 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be on a later date in Rockwell City, Iowa. Harriett was born July 15, 1934 to Clarence and Zeatta (Snyder) Black in Renwick, Iowa. She married Dale Becker of Pomeroy on September 23, 1954. They made their home in Waukee for 33 years before moving to Adel in 1995. Harriett was a homemaker and worked as a waitress for many years. She enjoyed camping, being a volunteer at Adel Acres, her flower gardens and her cat Socks. Harriett is survived by her husband, Dale; two sisters, Jerilyn (Robert) Peterson of Anchorage, Alaska and Kathryn Lee of North Pointe, North Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
