Richard B. Eide, age 89 died at Hopsice Kavanaugh House in Des Moines on October 30, 2010. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday November 26, 2010 at Redfield Methodist Church with burial of cremains in the Wiscotta Cemetery near Redfield. The family will greet friends at a luncheon and fellowship time following the service at the Redfield Legion Hall. Richard was an owner-operator truck driver who leased to Mid-Seven Transportation in Des Moines. He hauled grain to Chicago and steel back to IA, making two or three trips each week. He ended his career as a city driver for Mid Seven and retired in 1985. Richard is survived by a daughter Gayle Dyke and husband David of Grapevine, TX; son Jim Eide of Redfield; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: B. J. Coleman of Palo Alto, CA; Dolores Toler of Elk Grove Village, IL; Lois Coleman of Perry; one brother Hank Eide of Raleigh, NC; one brother-in-law Don Stoffer of Belmond, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Alvera Eide. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Richard B. Eide was born the son of Henry and Anna (Toft) Eide near Belmond, Iowa on August 20, 1921. He died at Hospice Kavanagh House on 56th St. in Des Moines, Iowa on October 30, 2010 at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 10 days. Richard was a veteran of the US Army during WW II. After being discharged from the Army Richard and Alvera Coleman of Redfield, Iowa were married on January 18, 1947. This union was blessed with two children: Gayle and Jim. Richard was an owner operator truck driver who leased to Mid Seven Transportation in Des Moines. He hauled grain to Chicago and steel back to Iowa. He ended his career as a driver for Mid Seven and retired in 1985. Richard and Alvera traveled to North and South Carolina, Kentucky, Texas, California, Canada and other places during retirement. He liked going to the Redfield Legion hall every day and playing pitch with the "boys". He is survived by his daughter: Gayle Dyke and husband David of Grapevine, TX; son Jim Eide of Redfield; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren brothers-in-law Hank Eide of Raleigh, NC and Don Stoffer of Belmond, IA; sisters-in-law: B.J. Coleman of Palo Alto, CA; Dolores Toler of Elk Grove Village, IL; and Lois Coleman of Perry, IA.
