September 5, 1921 --- April 2, 1989

Funeral services for Donald L. Berry, 67, Woolstock, were held Wednesday, April 5, 1989 at the United Methodist Church, Woolstock. Rev. Jacob Van Mantgem conducted the 1:30 p.m. service. Interment was held in Oakwood Cemetery, Stratford. A graveside flag folding service was conducted by the American Legion Post 533.

Mr. Berry passed away Sunday, April 2 at this home in Woolstock. He had been in ill health for the past five months. During the service Neil Bromm presented vocal selections accompanied by Elaine Janssen. Bearers were Richard Grandgeorge, John Jansen, Kreg Kantak, Jerry Kent, Mike Mason and Dave Kantak.

Donald Lowell Berry was born on Monday, Sept. 5, 1921 on a farm southeast of Webster City. He attended rural schools in Hamilton County, high school in Stratford and graduated from Stanhope High School. From 1944-1946 Donald served in the United States Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific areas. On Monday, August 28, 1944 Donald married Darlene Clabaugh at Stanhope. The couple resided at Stanhope. They moved to a farm southwest of Webster City where they lived for 38 years. In 1985 they retired and moved to Woolstock. Donald was a member of the United Methodist Church, Woolstock and American Legion Post 533, Woolstock.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; daughters, Mrs. Richard (Connie) Caquelin and Mrs. Kenneth (Jane) Spellmeyer, both of Woolstock; Janet Matthews, Des Moines; sons, Dennis Berry, Woolstock; Duane Berry, Clarion; Rodney Berry, Webster City; 12 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great-grandson; two step great-grandchildren; brothers, Edwin Berry, Stratford; Jerry Berry, Corcoran, CA; Claude Berry, Visalia, CA; sister, Mrs. Charles (Marigene) Allen, Stanhope; nieces and nephews.
