Rowan, Iowa --Meservey Woman Buried Here
Friends here received word of the death of Mrs. Earl Jacobs of Meservey who passed away Sunday night in the Belmond hospital. She has been in poor health for some time. The funeral service was held in the Rowan Methodist church Wednesday at 2:30 p m with Rev. Miller of Belmond in charge, assisted bv the Rev. R. M. Lingard of the Rowan church. Surviving are her husband and one son, Edgar Mantle.

Mrs. Clifford Earl JacobsMattie Susan Beck was born May 16, 1876, at Eudora, Kan., daughter of Catherine and Henry Beck and passed away August 30, 1953, after a lingering illness at the Memorial hospital at Belmond at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 14 days. At the age of 9 years after the death of her mother, Mattie, along with a sister and brother, moved to Illinois to reside with relatives. In later years she moved to Iowa and located in the vicinity of Alexander. It was while living in this vicinity that she was united in marriage to Henry Mantle in 1895, and to this union two sons were born, Edgar and Robert. Robert died in infancy. After the death of her husband, Mattie moved with her son, Edgar into the home of Clara and Ed Miller, her sister and brother-in-law, and remained there until her marriage to Clifford Earl Jacobs on Dec. 19, 1910. In 1921 together with her family
she moved to a farm east of Goodell where the remainder of her life was spent. She was baptized into the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, two sisters and
one brother, and her parents. Surviving are her present husband, Clifford Earl, and one son, Edgar
James, together with five grandchildren, seven great-grand children, nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Beck.Brief funeral services were held at the home of Mr and Mrs. G. L. Thomas, nephew and niece, Wednesday, Sept 2, and the Rowan Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. Miller of Belmond and Rev. R. H, Lingard of Rowan officiating. Mrs. Minnie Pelly sang, "In the Garden" and Howard Box sang, "Out of the Ivory Palaces." Mrs. Nina Heathershaw was the organist. Pallbearers were John Henn, John Pals, Harry Schmidt, Herman Reikens, Neola Watermiller and Bennie Vierkant.

C. Mason, Mrs. Nellie Jacobs, all of Marshalltown; George Snyder, Venion Snyder and Leslie Snyder of Mason City; Dr. and Mrs. C. S. Shilley and T. S. Shilley of Graettinger; Emil Siefken, Walter Siefken and August Hagen of Rockwell; Mrs. Jennie Kelling and Mrs. Clara Pollock and son of Goldfield; Mr. and Mrs. Burdette Bell and daughter of Woolstock: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tesdahl of Holmes; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hall of Guernsey; Mr. and Mrs. Otis H Myers, Mrs. Ethel H.
