ROCKWELL, IA —Funeral services for Edgar Mantle, 57, are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist Church at Rowan. He died unexpectedly Monday at his home in Meservey. Mr. Mantle was a businessman in Belmond. Surviving are five children Mrs. Herbert Siefken, Rockwell, Mrs. Don Howard and Mrs. Laton Henigar, both of Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Don Copus, Ventura, Calif, and Jerry Mantle, Pasco, Wash.

Former Rowanite Burial on Friday

James Edgar Mantle was born near Belmond on August 6, 1899 and passed away suddenly at his home in Meservey on March 11, 1957, at the age of 57 years, 7 months and 20 days. "Edgar" as he was more commonly known, was reared in the Rowan community and also farmed there for a number of years. Upon leaving Rowan he farmed in the Swaledale vicinity and after discontinuing farming in that area, he lived with his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jacobs on a farm east of Goodell until the time of her death in 1953.

Edgar was preceded in death by his mother, father, and one brother. He leaves to mourn his passing, five children: Mrs. Herbert Siefken, Rockwell; Mrs. Don Howard and Mrs. Laton Hennigar, both of Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Duane Copus of Ventura, Calif., and Jerry Mantle of Pasco. Wash.; 11 grandchildren, along with other relatives.

Last rites were held Friday at 2 p. m. in the Rowan Methodist church with Rev. E W. Brayton, pastor of the church conducting the service. Howard Box and E. A. Rietz accompanied by Mrs. Howard Box sang. Bearers were: Messrs. D. K. Stout and Clarence Whitten, Rowan; Keeley Johnson, Meservey; Allen Warren, Rockwell; Glen Farmer and Harry Schmidt of Clarion. Burial was in the Rowan cemetery. Relatives who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Siefken, Rockwell; Mrs. Laton Hennigar of Yakima, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Moellering of Hibbing, Minn.; Earl Jacobs, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Snider and Mrs. Les Snider of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Billman and Mr. and Mrs. Don Olson of Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Howard, Yakima, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Copus of Ventura, Calif.
