Lewis J. White, 77, Resident Here 52 Years, Dies Friday

Lewis J. White, a resident of Clarion and vicinity for 52 years, died at his home in Clarion Friday at the age of 77 years. The son of S. H. and and Hester Dugan White, he was born August 26, 1871, near Lostant, Ill. In 1896 he moved with his father's family to a farm southwest of Clarion. He was married in 1898 to Jennie M. Jones of Clarion who preceded him in death in 1907. In 1909 he married Myrtle House. He continued to farm in Lincoln township until 1921, when he retired and moved to Clarion.

He is survived by his wife: two sons and two daughters, four grandchildren; two sisters, one brother and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Masonic order for 30 years. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Clarion Church of Christ, Rev. C. L. Dixbury of Mankato, Minn., officiating. Burial was in Clarion Evergreen Cemetery where members of the Masonic Lodge conducted the burial ritual. The pallbearers were Roy E. Wilson, Bert Banks, Eldred Shupe, E.O. Hansen. Glen Doctor and Harry Sumners. Music for the service was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Kooy of Webster City, accompanied by Juanita Richardson of Clarion.
