Darlene Nodland, loving wife, mother and grandmother, 84, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 30, at the First Church of Christ, Ankeny, with interment in the Oralabor Cemetery.

Darlene Nodland, was born on August 2, 1927, to Henry and Joyce Bell in Des Moines. She previously owned the Silhouette Beauty Salon in Des Moines. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and was an active member of the First Church of Christ in Ankeny.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Burdette "Bud" Nodland of Ankeny; children, Beverly (Mike) Carr of Carson, Michael (Marcia) Nodland of Leavenworth, Kansas, Anna Marie (Roger) Gloor of Kansas City, Missouri, Carol (Alan) Clason of Paris, France and Richard (Tammy) Nodland of Lakeville, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Merrill Bell. Memorial contributions may be directed to Darlene's family to be donated at a later date.
