Roger Eldon 'Rog' Sander was born June 11, 1952, at Clinton, the son of Eldon and Gladys (Behrens) Sander. He moved with his family to the Renwick area as a small boy. Rog received his education in Renwick, graduating from the Boone Valley High School in 1970. He worked as a mechanic for the John Deere Co. in Waterloo, for a few years, then drove truck for Mormons Feed Co. Rog then owned and operated a backhoe and worked for Stephens Trenching in Goldfield. For the last few years, Rog farmed and worked for McPeak Trenching in LuVerne and Renwick. Roger was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick. He also belonged to the Izaak Walton League and the Gold Eagle Coop in Renwick. He enjoyed farming not only as an occupation, but as a hobby. He loved being with his friends and enjoyed giving them a hand when they needed help. Rog was very good at all kinds of welding and mechanical work, and could just about everything that needed fixing.

Rog died at his home in Renwick on Thursday, June 12, 2003. He was 51. Funeral service for him was at 2 p.m., Monday, June 16, at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick, with the Rev. James Little and the Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. Inurnment will be at a later time.
