20 April 1912 -- 12 March 1987

Graveside committal services for Eldon Smith, 74, will be held Monday, March 16, at 3 p.m. in the Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Charles Hawkins officiating. He was former Webster City resident who had resided at the Dows Care Center and died Thursday, March 12. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 4 p.m. Saturday until the time of service Monday. Flag folding services will be conducted by American Legion Post 191.

Eldon Gordon Smith, son of Jep and Myrtle Jones Smith, was born April 20, 1912 at Webster City. He was educated at Blue Earth, Minn. He married Lois Strong on June 9, 1941 in Missouri. He served with the US Army during World War II and then returned to Webster City and was employed by Selby Produce, Morton Foods, and for 18 years for the street department for the City of Webster City. He retired in 1974. Survivors are one daughter and one son, Patricia Smith Mosher of Eagle Grove, Thomas E. of Webster City: five grandsons, Rick Raner, Bradley and David Mosher, Daniel and Robert Smith; three sisters, Billie (Mrs. Amos) Swenson of Fort Dodge, Eva (Mrs. Webster) Lavender, of Webster City and Madalene Smith of Blairsburg; one brother Kenneth W. Smith of Sylmar, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and one brother.
