MRS. EMMERT DIES THURSDAY

Frances Pohlman Emmert, 81, died Thursday, Dec. 22, at Bethesda Care Center, Toledo, where she had made her home for the past two years. Services were held Saturday, Dec. 24, at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler. Pallbearers were Dick Emmert, Marvin Emmert, Willard Emmert, Earl Heishman, Floyd Heishman and James Manatt. Burial was in Sheridan Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be left at Smith Funeral Home where friends may call for additional information.

The daughter of Ole and Julia Ethrein [Eittreim??] Bakke, she was born Oct. 26, 1907, in Thor. She attended the Thor schools and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. She was married to Roy Pohlman Oct. 14, 1927, in Clarion. They lived at Mallard and later farmed near Grinnell. After the death of Mr. Pohlman Dec. 24, 1963, she was married to Lowell (Louie) Emmert June 8, 1965, and continued to live in this area. They moved to Grinnell in 1974. Mr. Emmert died in 1977 and since 1984 Mrs. Emmert had resided at Brookside East before moving to Bethesda Care Center two years ago. She is survived by one daughter Betty Jean Jantzen, Rt. 1, Malcom; a grandson and a great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a grandson, a brother and a sister.
