9 October 1904 -- 13 December 1996

Blanche Hiveley, 92, Tompkins Memorial Health Center, died Dec. 13, 1996, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, Fort Dodge, officiated by the Rev. Gary Snook, Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Bruce's Funeral Home, Fort Dodge. Survivors include son Clarence Hiveley, Fort Dodge; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister Ruby Young, Fort Dodge; brothers Evan Harris, Duncombe, and Glen Harris, Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Maude Porter Harris, husband Wesley, son Lawrence, a sister and four brothers.

Blanche Harris was born Oct. 9, 1904, in Woolstock. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Indiana, later moving back to Iowa to the Duncombe area. She married Wesley in 1923 in Duncombe and they farmed in the Duncombe and Vincent area. In the early 1930s, they moved to Fort Dodge. She was a homemaker. He died in 1978. After his death, she continued to make Fort Dodge her home. In the 1980s, she moved to Friendship Haven. For the past six years, she was a resident of Tompkins Memorial Health Center. She was a member of the First Church of Nazarene.
