20 January 1922 -- 28 April 1991

Dorothy (Mrs. Howard) Hilpipre, 69, Woolstock, died Sunday morning, April 28, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City, Rev. Ruth Lovejoy officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home is after 5 p.m. today until service time Wednesday.

Dorothy Margaret Smith, daughter of Claude and Marie (Christenson) Smith, was born Jan. 20, 1922, on a farm southeast of Webster City. She was educated in Webster City. She was employed at the Daily Freeman-Journal. She married Howard "Shorty" Hilpipre on Feb. 22, 1941, in Webster City. The couple farmed near Iowa Falls until 1947, when they moved to Woolstock. She had most recently been employed part time at Sadler Construction in Eagle Grove.

She is survived by her husband, Howard, Woolstock; three sons and a daughter, Leo Hilpipre, Eagle Grove; Rodney Hilpipre, Eldora; Bonnie (Mrs. Melvin) Seehase, Sumner; and Randy Hilpipre, Woolstock; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul Smith and Claude "Bill" Smith both of Webster City; Wayne Smith, Panjuitch, Utah; and Ralph Smith, Stanhope. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas, in 1963; his parents; a brother and three sisters. Mrs Hilpipre was a member of the Woolstock United Methodist Church, the UMW, and Woolstock Senior Citizens Club.
