March 3, 1978 --- January 11, 2002

Allan Gene Hugo, 23, died Friday, January 11 (2002) at his home. Funeral service for him was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Congregational Church at Buffalo Center with the Rev. David Langer officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery at Buffalo Center, the Winter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Allan Gene, son of Harvey and Loretta Honken Hugo, was born at Mason City, IA on March 3, 1978. He received his education in North Iowa High School at Buffalo Center and graduated from East Fork Alternative High School at Algona. After graduation, Allan joined the United States Marine Corps as a special weapons technician. He took his basic training at San Diego Marine Corps Recruiting Depot. Allan was in Hotel company; one of the last companies to participate in the crucible. His combat training was at Camp Pendleton, CA, then went to Aberdeen, MD for his specialty as a special weapons technician. Allan was stationed at Cherry point, NC for his tour of duty. He was honorably discharged in January of 2000 at the rank of Lance Corporal with several commendations and was currently a member of the Army National Guard, 3622 Maintenance Company- Eagle Grove. Allan was also employed by Nuvex Ingredients at Blue Earth, MN.

His enjoyment in life included his family, his dog, Jack; target shooting, his Camaro and truck, and just hanging out with his friends.

Allan is survived by his parents, Harvey and Loretta Hugo; a sister, Mary and a brother, David; and a step grandmother, Regina Honken, all of Buffalo Center. His grandparents, John and Martha Hugo and Clyde and Marie Honken; aunts, Harlene Guinn and Donna Wieth, are deceased.
