ALGONA - Funeral service for Dorothea June Moulton of Algona was held Monday, May 6, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Algona First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Philip Webb officiating. Interment was in the East Lawn Cemetery at Algona, the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf-Funeral Home of Algona in charge or arrangements. Casketbearers were Bill Black, Chris Hansen, Tony Hilpipre, Matt Moulton, Andy Moulton, Chris Patrick, and Todd Sabin. Honorary bearers were Cecil Bjustrom, Ted Chrischilles, Lyle Dearden, Sean Foong Chong, Bob Forshay, Bob Henderson, George Huvendick, James Kelley, Ethan King, Robbie Patrick, John Williamson and Keith Christie.

Dorothea Moulton died Wednesday, May 1, (2002) in the Rotary Ann Home at Eagle Grove where she had been a resident the past three years, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 80.

The daughter of Roy and Florence Bjustrom, Dorothea Moulton was born Feb. 27, 1922 at Hobarton. She was raised in Algona with her brother, Wayne, attended Algona schools and graduated from Algona High School in 1939; attended the Dakota Wesleyan University at Mitchell, SD where she earned her B.S. degree in home economics. She met her husband, Frank Moulton, in college and they were married June 6, 1943 at Lake City, FL, before he shipped out for duty as a pilot with the U.S. Navy as a 2nd lieutenant. She taught junior high school n Yankton, SD for one year, after which she joined other wives in Washington and California while their husbands were in the service. After World War II, the couple returned to Algona where he joined the family business, Bjustrom's Furniture Co. Dorothea was an active member of the First United Methodist Church; participated in youth activities in the local schools and church; was a Scout leader; enjoyed knitting; was a member of Eastern Star, AAUW; and worked in the district superintendent's office in the 1970s. She also enjoyed playing golf, liked to travel, was a member of a sewing club and various bridge groups.

Survivors are her children: Kay Sabin and husband, Carroll, of Eagle Grove; Susan Patrick and her husband, Kirk, Los Angeles, CA; Phyllis Williamson and husband, Rodney, Franklin, TN; and Michael Moulton, and wife, Karen, Sedalia, MO. There are 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Wayne Bjustrom. The family requests memorial gifts be made to the First United Methodist Church, Algona, the Dorothea Moulton Fund.
