February 15, 1901 -- December 29, 1931

Mrs. Walter Kraft Died Tuesday, Dec. 29

Thelma Irene Schultz daughter of Henry and Mary Schultz, was born Feb. 15, 1901, in Macon County, Ill. At the age of two years she came to Iowa with her parents and here in the vicinity of Renwick grew to womanhood. Feb. 25, 1920, she was united in marriage to Walter A. Kraft of Renwick. They settled on a farm northeast of town, where they were still living when she passed away. Four children were born to their union, one daughter, Lavon Maxine, preceeding the mother in death, Jan. 9, 1926.

Several weeks ago the deceased was seriously stricken with pleurisy. As time passed hope for her recovery waned until Sunday, when there seemed to be a slight improvement in her condition. On Monday, however, she suffered a relapse and on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1931, she departed from this life. She attained the age of 30 years, 10 months and 14 days.

She leaves to mourn her early departure: her devoted husband; three sons, Verven Elroy, Kenneth Walter. and Earl William; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schultz of Renwick; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Lena Rehr of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Clara Xanders of Goldfield, and Wesley Shultz of Renwick; also many other relatives and friends. She will be missed in the community in which she has lived for the last eleven years, but she will be missed most of all in the home in which she played the part of devoted wife and mother. It seems unbearably hard that the mother should have been called from this home where husband and children have much need of her. But God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts and his ways are not our ways. And even in such sorrow as this all things must serve for the best for them who love God. Funeral services were held Dec. 31 from the Lutheran Church with Pastor George F. Dirks in charge. Interment was made in Elmwood Cemetery.
