John Pergande, 84, Purdin, Missouri died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Pershing Memorial Hospital, Brookfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, with Rev. Sue Lambert officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 that evening. Burial with military honors will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials to Linneus United Methodist Church may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at 216 Linn St., Brookfield, Mo. 64628.

John Albert was born June 15, 1927, in LuVerne, Iowa, son of Carl Earnest and Catherine (Hinkle) Pergande. He married Dorothy Jean Brown on January 24, 1948, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. John was a farmer at LuVerne, Iowa, from 1947 to 1973, when he moved to Linneus, where the family bought the Sullivan farm. There the family farmed until 1997 when they retired to a home in Purdin.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Pamela Pergande, Vincent, Iowa, and Roger Lee Pergande, Purdin; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane Kaye and Kenneth Potter, Paris; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Eugene Casey, LuVerne, Iowa; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer and Helen Pergande, Lebanon, and Herman and Jane Pergande, Humboldt, Iowa; 15 nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald Douglas Pergande; two brothers, Ernest and Lewis Pergande; one sister, Helen McClellan; and one niece, Vivian Kitley.
