Nadine Lucille (Guy) Mulford

April 28, 1915 --- January 2, 2012

Funeral services for Lucille Mulford, 96, were conducted by Pastor Jack DePond on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. The honorary casket bearers were: Ted Shoesmith, Tom Shroyer, Robert Klever, Darrell Whitehead, George Sorensen, and Marvin Lange. The casket bearers were her great-grandsons: Jeremy Lupardus, Steve Mulford, Jason Mulford, Mark Mulford, Jacob Yearington, and William Bald. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of the arrangements.

Nadine Lucille Mulford, the daughter of Morton and Edith Wright Guy, was born April 28, 1915, at her parents' home in Beadle County near Huron, S.D. and died Jan. 2, 2012, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, at the age of 96 years, 8 months, and 4 days. The family moved from South Dakota to Guthrie County, when Lucille was a young girl. She was confirmed at the Christian Church in Guthrie Center. Lucille attended rural schools then graduated from the Guthrie Center High School with the Class of 1932. She then was employed as a cook. In 1935, Lucille was united in marriage to Cecil Lupardus. One son, William B. Lupardus, was born to this union. Lucille helped Cecil farm and then was employed as a cook at the Dinner Bell Café in Audubon. Later she purchased the Victory Café in Audubon which she operated for many years. On Aug. 6, 1970, she married Edwin L. Mulford in Yankton, S.D. Lucille sold the restaurant and moved with Ed to Belmond. They retired in 1975 and returned to live in Audubon. Ed died Dec. 16, 1994. Lucille lived in their home for many years then moved to the Friendship Village in Audubon in August of 2007. Lucille was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Ed Mulford; her son, William Lupardus; her step-grandson Brian Mulford; her parents; her brothers and her sister Maxwell Guy, Mason Guy, and Louina Powell; and her brother-in-law Burdette Laughery. Survivors include her daughter-in-law Noreen Lupardus of Carroll; her grandchildren Linda and husband Jeff Yearington of Cleveland, Mo., Mike and wife Deb Lupardus of Jefferson, Steve Lupardus of Bennington, Neb., Deb Lupardus of Carroll, and Diane and husband Jeff Bald of Sioux City; 13 great- grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her step-children Carolyn Mulford, Gary and wife Gloria Mulford, and Larry Mulford all of Audubon; her step-grandchildren Mark Mulford of Des Moines, Steve and wife Tracy Mulford of Elk Horn, Jason and wife Marcie Mulford of Ankeny, Jennifer and husband Clint Stetzel of Audubon, Jeff Mulford and Angie and husband Joe Wilson all of Harlan, numerous step-great-grandchildren; her sister Norma Laughery of Bayard; several brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
