Former Ledyard Farm Wife Dies

Ledyard, IA -- Funeral services for Pearl Lloyd, 58, of Iowa Falls, Iowa were held at the E and R church in Ledyard on Tuesday April 19, at 2:00 p.m., with burial at Highland Home Cemetery in Ledyard. Rev. Victor Vriesen officiated.

Pearl Marie Gruis, daughter of George and Molly [Plantz] Gruis, was born at Meservey, Iowa on February 23, 1925. She moved to Blue Earth, Minn., with her parents, and on May 2, 1942, she was married to Glenn Lloyd of Ledyard in Blue Earth. She farmed with her husband at Ledyard; and was also employed at Welp's Hatchery in Bancroft for many years, and at the Green Giant Canning Factory in Blue Earth, where she was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. The couple lived in the Ledyard area from 1942 until 1967, when they moved to Iowa Falls, where they lived until her death. Mrs. Lloyd passed away on Saturday April 16, 1983 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames at the age of 58 years, one month and 23 days.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn; one son Eugene of Fort Dodge, four daughters, Ranae, Mrs. Dennis Anderson on Ames, Sheila, Mrs. Steven William of St Joseph, Michigan, Glennis, Mrs. Kevin Bauge of Iowa Falls; and Bonnie Knoll of Ames; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret, Mrs. Al Willette and Mrs. Irene Guckeen, both of Blue Earth, Minn., La Evonne, Mrs. Don Lindgron of Brainerd, Minn. and many relatives and friends.

Services were held Tuesday morning at Surls Funeral Home of Iowa Falls who were in charge of arrangements. Rev. Doug Peters officiated.
