PORTALES, N. M. — Funeral services were conducted this morning in the Wheeler Starlight Chapel for George J. Gruis, 55, who died Monday at his Portales home after suffering an apparent heart attack. The Rev. Hugh Frazier, pastor with the University Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Gruis was a maintenance engineer at Eastern New Mexico University, He was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Barbara of the home; two sons, Bobby of Dixon, III., and Andy of Carlos, La.; a brother, Adolph of Wayland, Mich.; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Willitte and Mrs. Lavon Lindgron both of Blue Earth, Minn., Mrs. Irene Guckien of Guckien, Minn., and Mrs. Pearl Lloyd of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and three grandchildren.
