BLUE EARTH, Minn. - Margarette “Margaret” Gruis Willette, 79, widow of Aloysius “Al” Willette, died Monday morning, Nov. 24, 1997, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home. Born Oct. 26, 1918 in Meservey, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Gerghard ? [George/Geerd] and Mollie Plantz Gruis. Mrs. Willette attended Blue Earth School. After her marriage she lived in Blue Earth before moving to Wells and Sherburn, returning to Blue Earth in 1951. Mrs. Willette was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She was employed as a head cook at the Catholic school in Blue Earth for eight years and did domestic work for local families.
Survivors include two sons and their spouses, Roger A. and Betty M. Willette of Sumter, S.C., and Alan and Judy Willette of Mahtomedi; a daughter and her spouse, Donna and Jacque Kelsey of Neosho, Wis.; a sister, Arlene Lingron of Brainerd; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Willette was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and one grandson.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father John Ozbun officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 tonight at Patton Funeral Home. Patton Funeral Homes (218 West 6th Street, Blue Earth, Minn. 56013) is in charge of arrangements.
