July 3, 1914 -- April 20, 2001

RUTLAND, IA - Mildred P. Coltvet Blomker, 86, died April 20, 2001, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Humboldt. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rutland with the Rev. Kevin Weeks officiating. Burial will take place prior to the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Mrs. Blomker is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Harold Harris of Glastonbury, Conn.; sons, Carl Coltvet of Humboldt, Douglas Coltvet and his wife Jane of Rutland, Roger Coltvet and his wife Colleen of Paradise Valley, Ariz. and Bruce Coltvet and his wife Linda of Cottage Grove, Minn., step-daughters, Merna Brown and Donna Day; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Benda of Tempe Ariz.; and brothers, Frances Porter of Eagle Grove, Russell Porter of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Emil Porter of El Centro, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, her husbands Harold and Floyd, brother Glen Porter Jr. and sister Alice.

Mildred P. Porter, the daughter of Glen and Mary (Wildman) Porter, was born July 3, 1914, at Loogootee, Ind. She moved with her parents and sister Alice to Eagle Grove in 1917. She attended school in a one-room school house near her home and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1931. In 1936, she was united in marriage to Harold Coltvet. In 1938, the couple moved to the home in Rutland where she has lived for the last 63 years. Mr. Coltvet passed away in 1967. In 1971, she married Floyd Blomker. Mr. Blomker passed away in 1986 and she continued to maintain her home in Rutland.

Mildred was an active member of the Rutland Trinity Lutheran Church where she had served as a Sunday school superintendent and played the piano. She was a 50-year member of the Rutland and Bode Women's Club and was a past member of the Humboldt Historical Society. She was an avid reader, reading two or three books a week.
