Marvin Lee Jensen, the son of Howard W. and Thelma (Snell) Jensen, was born December 20, 1938, in Duncombe, Iowa. He was educated at Cole School in Webster City. Marvin served two years in the United States Army, receiving his training at Ft. Chaffee Ordinance, MD, as an Ordinance Parts Specialist serving in Iceland.

On October 10, 1959, Marvin was united in marriage with Pearl Johnson, from Webster City, in Blue Earth, Minnesota. To this union, five children were born: Sherry, Debora, Brenda, Denise and Alan. Marvin was employed for several years as a truck driver in Eagle Grove. He worked for Ellsworth, Umthun Trucking, Boone Valley Coop, Knutson Ready Mix and Humboldt Blacktop Services. He was also self-employed for a short time. Marvin was a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church and American Legion Post #191, Webster City. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Marvin enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and the fall season.

Marvin passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011, at the Iowa Veterans' Home in Marshalltown, at the age of 72 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Duane Jensen and Howard W. Jensen, Jr. and a sister, Dorothy Becker. Survivors include his wife, Pearl Jensen of Eagle Grove; children: Sherry Hohensee and husband Ken of Renwick, Debora Smith of Eagle Grove, Brenda Jackson of SanTan Valley, AZ, Denise Weston and husband Ron of Grimes and Alan Jensen of Eagle Grove; ten grandchildren: Travis Hohensee, Katie Smith, Rachael Smith, Erin Gomez and husband, Josh, Tammi Jo Jackson, Shawn Jackson, Keri Weston, Kristine Akins and husband Tyler, Katharine Good and husband Benjamin and Kelsi Weston; one great-granddaughter, Azaela Pearl Gomez; six brothers and sisters: Jeri Hayden of Valley, NE, Marlene Anderson of Webster City, Darrell Jensen of Webster City, Joyce Hill of Pomeroy and Terry Jensen of Jewell, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 24, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Jason Cooper officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
