West Des Moines, IA --- Anna Marie Maigaard, 85, died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Anna Marie was born in Dows, IA on August 19, 1926. She graduated from Dows High School in 1942 but also attended Lincoln High School in Des Moines. She graduated from Capital City Commercial College and married Norman Maigaard on October 27, 1946. They lived in St. Louis, Mason City and Cherokee but considered West Des Moines their home for nearly 50 years. She worked as an executive secretary throughout her life for the State Tax Commission, Assistant Attorney General of Iowa and United Way of Central Iowa. Anna Marie worked as a facilitator for Alzheimers support groups in the Des Moines area for many years. She was active in various community social groups and church activities.

Anna Marie is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Dr. Jay Rosenberger) of West Des Moines; son, Dr. Randy (Karen) Maigaard of West Des Moines; six grandchildren: Stephanie, Michelle, William, Joe, Tom and Mike; and one great-grandson, Adnan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, her parents and two brothers. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.,Tuesday at McLaren's Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Capitol Hill Lutheran Church or United Way of Central Iowa.
