RACINE, WI - Ann Ikner, 91, passed away in Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints on Monday, September 19, 2011. She was born in Kanawha, Iowa on December 12, 1919, the daughter of the late William and Hattie (nee: Soetenga) Kuiper. On April 2, 1945, in the Christian Reformed Church of Racine, she was united in marriage to William Ikner, who preceded her in death on December 25, 1991. Mrs. Ikner was a faithful and active member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She taught Sunday School, did ladies crafts, and ministered through sending cards and letters to her family and friends. She had been employed by A and E Manufacturing for over 25 years, retiring in 1986, and was active in their 20-Year Club. Mrs. Ikner had a wonderful sense of humor. She treasured the times she spent with family and friends. Mrs. Ikner also enjoyed crocheting and was always making "something special" for others. Surviving are her son, Bill (Barb) Ikner of Sneads Ferry, N.C.; daughter, Marj (Richard) Harris of Mount Pleasant; grandson, Jim Ikner of Sneads Ferry, N.C.; sister, Adrianna (Walter) Boersma; and sisters-in-law, Ann Kuiper and Elda Kuiper. Mrs. Ikner is further survived by her wonderful nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dowie and Frank Kuiper. A private Funeral service was held in West Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Steve Fringer officiating. The family has suggested memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Lakeshore Manor, its staff, and the friends who offered their loving and compassionate care to Ann.
