MORTON, IL - Robert L. "Bob" Hasty, 86, of Morton died at 2:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton. He was born Dec. 2, 1924, on a farm near Kanawha, Iowa, to Jesse and Esther (Smith) Hasty. He moved to Morton in 1935 and attended Morton schools, attended high school from 1939 to 1943 and was drafted into World War II two weeks following his graduation from high school. He served with the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 aboard ships in the Pacific and European theaters.

Bob married Dorothy M. Rapp on Oct. 22, 1948, in Morton. She preceded him in death on April 2, 1999. He also was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are three daughters, Jane (Bob) Brophy of Peoria, Susan Hasty of Corvallis, Ore., and Carol (Brad) Ingram of East Peoria; four grandchildren, Rob Brophy (Stephanie Cady) of Peoria, Stephanie Ingram of Chicago, and Adam (Jessica) Ingram and Sara (Corey) Parham, both of Denver, Colo.; and two great-grandchildren, Addison Ingram and Max Parham.

An electrician, Bob was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 34 in Peoria, retiring in 1986. He was a lifetime member of Morton United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Tuesday Morning Work and United Methodist Men's groups. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5921 in Morton. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. The family would like to thank Methodist Hospice, Bob's neighbors and the men's group at church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Morton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Paul Walles officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Morton United Methodist Church Building Fund, to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society .
