Johnston, IA --- Agnes C. Orsland, formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on Sunday September 18, 2011 at Bishop Drumm Care Center, Johnston, Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Friday evening September 23, 2011 at 7 p.m. Iles Funeral Homes/ Westover Chapel, with family greeting one hour prior to service time. A second funeral will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Ullensvang Evangelical Lutheran Church, Thor, Iowa, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will immediately follow at East Ullensvang Cemetery, Thor, Iowa.

Agnes was born August 14, 1923 in Thor, Iowa, to Carl and Hannah Johnson. She graduated from Thor High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. She married Joseph H. Orsland on November 11, 1956 and resided in Marshalltown. Agnes retired April 1985 after 26 years with Marshall County Department of Social Services. She was very active at Elim Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid, Marshalltown and Sons of Norway, Story City, Iowa. She loved travel, photography, handwork, genealogy and stamp collecting. Family and friends were a great joy to her.

Survivors include her brother, Harold C. (Patrilla) Johnson of Humboldt, her sister, Arlene J. (Paul J.) Sweeney of Urbandale, sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hannah Johnson, husband, Joseph and brother, Richard.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Drumm Care Center. The family wishes a special "thank you" for all the wonderful care given to Agnes who include Bishop Drumm Care Center, Mercy Hospice, Bickford Cottages and Southern Care Hospice.
