JOICE, IA - Dennis L. Voldahl, 62, of Joice, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will take place at North Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lake Mills. Visitation will be today, Wednesday, July 20, from 5-7 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to the service.

Dennis Lee Voldahl was born on Feb. 3, 1949, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, to parents LaVerne J. "LJ" and Margaret A. (Fuchs) Voldahl. He attended country school and Lake Mills High School. On July 11, 1970, Dennis was united in marriage with Nancy Wray in Clarion, later ending in divorce. Dennis then spent a number of years with Mary Halvorsen. Dennis worked for Larson Manufacturing for 17 years; did construction first for his father LJ, and later owned his own company; and he was currently working part time for Eliot Inc. in rural Joice. Dennis enjoyed being a hard worker, but occasionally had time for camping, and he had a love for animals. He also spent time collecting baseball and football cards and attending card trading shows.

He is survived by three sons, Bill Voldahl of Jackson, Minn., John Halvorsen of Joice, and Danny Halvorsen of Mankato, Minn.; three grandchildren, Brenden, EmaRay, and John Jr.; a brother, Larry (Emily) Voldahl of Lake Mills; sister, Gail Welch of Texas; co-worker and friend, Dave Benson of Joice; and many cousins, extended relatives, and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece Susan Voldahl.
