AUGUSTA, GA - Captain Charles E. Jackson, Ret. US Marine Corps, 94, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 18, 2011 at University Hospital. Captain Jackson was the beloved husband of Mrs. Gladys Von Ohsen Jackson of 69 years. They were expecting to celebrate their 70th anniversary on July 27th. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Sandra G. Kennedy, officiating. A native of Clarion, Iowa, Captain Jackson lived most of his young life in Ottawa, IL. After retiring from the Marines, he graduated from San Diego State University to pursue a teaching career as a high school educator focusing on Business Law and Accounting. At his retirement from teaching he moved to Augusta where he became a member of Whole Life Ministries. He was sports enthusiast favoring golf, baseball and fishing. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews of Ottawa, IL. If so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice. Platts Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Avenue, Augusta, GA.
