April 22, 1846 --- June 1, 1930

Mrs. F. E. Comstock was called to Dickey, ND, Monday by the death of her father, William V. Moore, who passed away Sunday and she, in company with his widow, returned to Hawarden with his remains early Wednesday morning. Funeral services were held at the Comstock home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Robt. H. Forrester, pastor of the Methodist church in charge. Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery.

William V. Moore was born at Springfield, Mass. April 22, 1846, and passed away June 1, 1930, at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 18 days. While a very young child his father died and when he was eight years of age his mother died. He enlisted in the Union Army Dec. 12, 1863, at Monroe, Wis. serving with the 16th Wisconsin regiment in the Civil War. Following the Civil War he located at Freeport, Ill, and entered the Chicago & North Western Railway service which he continued for 18 years. On Oct. 31, 1868, he was united in marriage with Arminda Bebee of Batavia, Ill. She died at Freeport, Ill in 1881. Four children were born to this union, Mrs. F. E. Comstock of Hawarden, William J. Moore of Janesville, Wis., and George Moore of Dickey, N.D., one child dying when 3 years old. In 1886 he was united in marriage with Luna Miller of Oswego, NY. For a few years they made their home at Eagle Grove, Iowa, where he was engaged in the grocery business. In 1889 they moved to Laurens, Iowa, where for a time he was engaged in the hardware business. While living at Laurens he was converted and joined the Methodist Church and was faithful to this belief until his death. In the early fall of 1902 they moved to Dickey, ND. locating on a farm four miles southeast of Dickey. In the fall of 1916 they moved to Dickey at which time he retired from active work. Besides his widow and three children he is survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
