November 22, 1932 --- June 26, 2011
MARQUETTE, MI - Patricia Lou Crawford, age 78, of 2263 W. Fair Avenue, Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2011, at her home in the loving, comforting care of her family and the caregivers of UP Home Health and Hospice.
Born November 22, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa, the only child of Valentine F. and Alphoretta (Howe) Bunn, Pat was raised on a farm in Clarion, Iowa. Following graduation from high school, she enrolled at Drake University in Des Moines where she pursued a course of study in speech and drama, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1955. It was at Drake where she also met her future husband, Jerry. Pat taught high school drama in Waverly, Iowa for a time. On June 7, 1956, Pat and Jerry were married in Des Moines and Pat worked as a costumer in the Theater Department at Iowa University while also serving as secretary to the chairman of the department. In 1962, the couple moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they established a home and raised their family. For over 15 years, Pat served as director of the preschool and day school at Griffith United Methodist Church. Above all, "Miss Pat" loved children. A year ago, Pat and Jerry relocated to Marquette. In her leisure, Pat enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, loved film, and was a marvelous cook and baker. She was a gifted and skilled artist in watercolor and ceramic mediums and influenced her children in the arts as all are talented artists in their own right. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Cleveland Indians baseball team and, since her days on the farm, was a lover of animals, especially her four dogs and four cats.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Pat is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry; her children, Mitchell L. (Diane) Crawford and Vali E. Crawford both of Las Vegas, NV, and Keli A. (Paul) Truckey of Marquette; her grandchildren, McCade and Haley Crawford, Kolby and Baelin Borg, Baux Truckey, and Sydney Grant. Pat was preceded in death by her parents. Honoring Pat's request, no services will be scheduled. The family would like to express their appreciation to the caregivers of UP Home Health and Hospice for the many kindnesses extended to Pat and her family during the past few months. The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family.
