Marjorie Ramona Nelson Morse
December 26, 1913 -- June 2, 2011

Des Moines, IA -- Marjorie Morse passed away June 2, 2011 at Scottish Rite Park Care Center. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6th and Keo, Des Moines, IA. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery.

Marjorie was born near Ellsworth, IA December 26, 1913 to Andrew R. and Helen (Cragwick) Nelson. She was raised in Thompson, IA and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. In 1936 she married Darrel P. Morse. Marjorie and Darrel had three children and lived and worked in Des Moines until 1967 when they moved to California. Marjorie retired as personnel manager of the Broadway Department Store in West Covina, CA. After retirement they moved back to Des Moines, and in 1991 they moved to Scottish Rite Park. Marjorie was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and belonged to WELCA Lois Circle, PEO, Daughters of the Nile, and the American Scandinavian Foundation. She enjoyed her many bridge and cribbage groups, traveling, fishing, and spending time with her family. Family and friends will remember Marjorie for her strong faith, positive attitude and generosity.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter Janet Boyd (Mark) of Johnston, her sons John Morse (Patty) of Pleasant Hill, and James Morse (Linda) of Brookline, MA; six grandchildren, Jon Boyd, Tom Boyd, Amy Ballard, Jeff Morse, Jill Heimerman, and Lindsey Morse, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Iowa Hospice. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Scottish Rite Park for their loving care and support.
