Emmogene L. "Jean" Henry, longtime Okmulgee [Oklahoma] resident, died Thursday evening, May 12, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 88 years of age. Jean was born September 9, 1922 in Dows, Iowa to the late Jacob H. and Ida B. (Bennewitz) LaRue. She married Berwyn Franklin Henry in Concord, California on September 2, 1950. They moved to Okmulgee in 1961 from Dows, Iowa. She worked at OSU-Okmulgee for 26 years as the PBX Supervisor, retiring in 1987 and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, A. W., Barney and Roudolph LaRue and two sisters, Alice Root and Bernadine Roth. Survivors include her daughter, Charleen Sitton and husband James of Okmulgee, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Myles Schultz officiating. Interment will follow in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jean's memory.
