JOICE, IA - Burdette A. "Burt" Kinseth, 78, of Joice passed away early Tuesday morning, March 22, 2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident several days earlier. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Military honors will be provided by members of the Mason City Veterans Association. Burial will take place at a later date in the Bode Cemetery, Bode. Visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday afternoon, April 2. Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to the Burdette Kinseth Memorial Fund in care of Dean Kinseth.

Burdette Arvin Kinseth was born on Jan. 9, 1933, in Livermore to Andy and Nellie (Hauck) Kinseth. He grew up in Bode and in later years lived in the communities of Renwick, Longmount, Colo., and Joice. As a young man, Burt served in the United States Army. Burt was a hard worker all of his life, he mainly worked in farming, dairy and elevators. He was an avid horseman and raised a menagerie of animals over the years. Burt was a "horse trader" of sorts, always buying, selling and searching for the latest bargain. His hobbies included gardening, rock hounding and collecting anything and everything that caught his eye.

Those grateful in sharing in Burt's life are his sister, Irene Irving, formerly of Algona; children, Burdette Arvin (Donna) Kinseth Jr., Lincoln, Neb.; Ronda (Paul) Elbert, Marne, Iowa; Ramona Kinseth, Joice; Dean (Kathy) Kinseth, Joice; Dale Kinseth, Roy, Utah; and Barbara Kinseth, Lake Mills; grandchildren, Matthew, Danny, Jacqueline and her significant other, Cole Oldfather, Avery, Brad, Michael, Everett, Katelyn, and Tressa; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, JoAnn; parents; two sisters, Lela Jacobson and Elou Rich; and an infant son, Gary Kinseth. Hogan-Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel.
