Clark W. Holthaus

July 27, 1928 – November 6, 1989

Clarion, IA – Clark W. Holthaus, 61, of Clarion, IA, died Monday, November 6, 1989 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, IA of natural causes. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Clarion, with the Rev. Jerald G. Swanberg officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Clarion. Visitation is from 4 – 9 PM today at Eyler-Willim Funeral Home, Clarion.

Mr. Holthaus was born July 27, 1928, in Edgewood, to Wesley and Ella (Koenecke) Holthaus. As an infant he moved with his family to Ryan. He graduated from Cogen High School in 1946. Mr. Holthaus served in the Army from 1947 to 1948. He attended Barber College in Sioux City, IA. He moved to Clarion in 1955 and was the founder of All-Star Pro Golf. On February 13, 1956, he married Loretta M. Paul at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City, IA. He retired from his business in 1989 and had been a patient in the hospital for the past six weeks. He was a member of the American Legion and Clarion Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta, Clarion; four daughters, Annette Holthaus, Renee Holthaus and Wendy Holthaus, all of Denver, CO. and Gail Bormann, Waukee, IA, one son, Clark W. Jr., Ottumwa; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Ed, Ames; and Frank, Deerfield, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.
