Ernest H. Ganiere, 77, New Richland passed away at 8:42 p.m., Thursday, June 19 at St. John's Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. Cause of death was emphysema. A son of Henry Ganiere and his wife, Catherine Fischer, he was born in Wright County, Iowa, March 29, 1909. He attended elementary school in the Amboy area. As a youngster he moved to Amboy with his family. On August 9, 1934, he married Florence Dobie in Iowa. In 1936, they moved to the New Richland area, where they farmed until they retired to the city of New Richland in 1979. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in New Richland. His wife, Florence died August 8, 1981. Also preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Charles; a sister who died in infancy; and a brother George, who was killed while serving with the armed forces in Europe during World War II. Survivors include a son, E. Howard Ganiere and his wife, Janet of rural New Richland; two granddaughters, Rhonda Drenckhahn of Minnieska and Roxanne Ganiere of New Richland; two Brothers, Albert Ganiere of New Richland and Roger Ganiere of Kalispell, Mont.; and a sister, Mrs. Barbara Nemitz of New Richland, as well as many nieces and nephews. Services were Monday, June 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ, here, with the Rev. Barbara Bullock officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery. Pallbearers were F. Ray Wakefield of Albert Lea, Norbert Schultz, Dennis Maurer, Justin Stencel, Ernest Thompson and Harlan Berg, all of New Richland. Friedrich's Funeral Home, New Richland was in charge of arrangements.
