Funeral services for Charles Ganiere, 70, of New Richland will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in New Richland. The Rev. Jack Perdue will conduct the services. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Richland. Mr. Ganiere died Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis from a lung tumor. He had been in failing health for the past six months. He was born Jan. 5, 1912, in Woolstock, Iowa to Henry and Katherine (Fischer) Ganiere. He moved to the Amboy area from Iowa as a youth. He attended rural schools in Blue Earth county. He moved to New Richland in 1932. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War II. He farmed for most of his lifetime, and for the past 10 years, he managed the American Legion Club Room in New Richland. He was a member of VFW Post 1642, Waseca, and a member of the Andrew Borgen Post 75 American Legion in New Richland. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Herman (Barbara) Nemitz, New Richland, three brothers Ernest and Albert, of New Richland, and Roger of Bigfork Montana; and nine nieces and nephews.
