Earl Eric Benton was born on May 17, 1925 in Galt, Iowa and died on March 17, 2011 in Plains, Montana. Parents: Leon and Martha Benton. Brother: Bill; Sisters: Marie and Frances. Graduated in Clarion, Iowa and enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1943. Transferred to Pacific Theater in March, 1944. Served as infantry radioman with the Fifth Corps Headquarters Signal Battalion. Married Irene Delano April 24, 1946 at Eagle Grove, Iowa. Daughters Kathy born in March 1947 and Chery, born August 1948. Sons, Tom, born March 1952, and Ed, June 1954. Moved to Thompson Falls in 1968. Survived by Kathy Mayes of Worland, Wyoming, sons, Tom (Sherry) and Ed (Debra) both of Thompson Falls, son-in-law Gary Tourtelotte of Superior, Mont. and sister, Marie Manning of Eagle Grove, Iowa.
