Vaughn Ross, 60, of Des Moines, formerly of Britt, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Wednesday March 23, 2011. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2 at 2:00 pm at Ewing Funeral Home in Kanawha. Burial will be at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha. Visitation will be one hour before the service at 1:00 pm at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East 2nd Street, Kanawha.

Vaughn Rodney Ross was born on May 9, 1950, in Mason City, Iowa, to Don and Opal (Hall) Ross. He graduated from Britt High School in 1969, and was a member of Britt Lutheran Church. After graduating, Vaughn moved to Des Moines and worked at Goodwill Industries for 30 years. Vaughn’s hobbies included fishing, traveling with family, attending sporting and musical events, visiting museums, the Iowa State Fair, and enjoyed all types of movies. Vaughn had a very loving nature about him; he always wanted to know about the “folks”, especially the “little folks” as he called his great-nieces and nephews.

Vaughn is survived by brother Vince (Armon) Ross of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and sister Vicki (Stuart) Peterson of Woodbury, Minnesota; nieces and nephews Scott (Judy) Peterson, Allyson (Tim) Czaja, Valerie (Steve) Lambert, Angela (Dan) Olson, Vachelle (Cameron) Johnston, and Nathan Ross; eleven great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father Don and mother Opal Ross.
