ALDEN, IA - Max Trousdale passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the age of 94. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 27, at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls from 2-5 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 28, at the Alden United Methodist Church. Friends and acquaintances are invited to join the family in celebration of Max's life.

Max was born Oct. 12, 1916, to Guilford and Otsie (Walton) Trousdale in rural Alden. He attended school in Alden, graduating from Alden High School in 1935. He went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa and later Iowa State University. In May of 1942 he wed his beloved, Ardith Cundall, at the Dows Methodist Church. Later that same year, he was inducted into the Army. He served in the Army during World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He received an honorable discharge in December of 1945 and returned home to farm with his father. Max spent his life as a steward of the land, leaving his family's century farm in 1995. Max was a member of the Alden American Legion for over 60 years, a member of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years, as well as a member of the Alden-Popejoy Lions Club and the American Dairy Association.

The oldest of three sons, Max was preceded in death by his parents, Guilford and Otsie, and his brothers, Faye and Merle Trousdale. Max is survived by his wife, Ardith; his four daughters, Kaye, Jill, Ann and Mara; his six grandchildren, Carren, Erin, Ashley, David, Jessie and Kiley; as well as five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Grace, Max and Ivan.
