Services were held for Mrs. Loretta J. Swisher at 1:30 Saturday June 3, 1972 in the Eyler Funeral chapel. Organist was Mrs. Paul Loomis and soloist was Mrs. Roy Crawford. Burial was held in the Clarion Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Z. Rout, Darrell D. Rout, Donald J. Weiss, Michael G. Swisher, Richard D. Mcburney and Thomas N. Kluss. The Eyler Funeral home was in charge of arrangements
Surviving are a son, Donald Scottsbluff, Nebr; daughters Mrs. William Rout, Dows; Mrs. Lee Weiss and Mrs J. L. VanderBerg both of Clarion, 16 grandchildren and 28 great grand children.
Mrs. Loretta Josephine Swisher, daughter of James and Josephine Smith was born August 16m 1885 on a farm near Galt, Iowa. There were eight brothers and sisters in the Smith family. Loretta was united in marriage to David Bright Swisher September 7, 1904. They resided in Wright County all of their lives. To this union four children were born, Donald of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Lura Rout of Dows; Ruth Weiss and Marjorie VanderBerg of Clarion. Mrs. Swisher was a member of the Clarion Methodist Church for over sixty years serving in many offices during these years. She was a kind, Christian mother devoted to her family and loyal to friends and neighbors. Her husband preceded her in death in 1960 as did all of her brothers and sisters and one granddaughter, Susan Gay VanderBerg. The last year of her life was spent in Concord Manor, Garner, Iowa and she passed away June 1, 1972.
