Services were held Tuesday afternoon, May 31, 1960 at the Eyler Funeral home with Rev. R. H. Jackson in charge. Roy Crawford served as soloist and Mrs. Nina Heathershaw as organist. Six grandsons of Mr. Swisher were pallbearers.
Interment was in the Clarion Evergreen cemetery.

David Bright Swisher was born in Groveport, Ohio, July 9, 1875 and passed away May 28, 1960 at his home in Clarion. He was the second son of Jacob and Ella Swisher. His parents, one brother, and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Swisher came to Iowa in the early 1900's and in 1904 was united in marriage with Josephine Smith. To this union was born one son, Donald of Gering Nebr. and three daughters, Lura (Mrs. William Rout) of Dows; Ruth (Mrs. Lee Weiss) of Clarion and Marjorie (Mrs. J. L. VanderBerg) of Clarion.

Mr. and Mrs. Swisher celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary Sept. 6, 1954. As a young man, Mr. Swisher joined the Methodist church in Groveport, Ohio and has been a member of the Clarion Methodist church for more than fifty years. He has been active all of his life and remained in good health until the time of his death. He was one of the first rural mail carriers of Clarion and has always engaged in building and carpentry work. Eleven years before retirement at 75, he was manager of the Galt Lampert Lumber Co.

Mr. Swisher was well known in Clarion and community and will always be remembered as a good friend and neighbor. He was much loved by his family and friends. Mr. Swisher leaves to mourn his passing his wife, son and three daughters, sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
