RENWICK - Ruby Alma (McPeak) Tate was born September 20, 1918 at Pleasant Hill Stock Farm, rural Renwick, Iowa to Verni and Dessie (Palmer) McPeak. She grew up on the family farm and attended Boone Township Number 2 rural school. She graduated from Renwick Public High School in 1936. After high school she helped on the family farm and did domestic work for neighboring families. She married Virgil Tate of Eagle Grove on December 30, 1940 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. She helped farm and lived on the same farm northeast of Renwick for over sixty years until moving to Rotary Ann in Eagle Grove in 2001 where she lived out the rest of her life. As she was growing up she was active in 4-H. She was a member of Boone Township Women's Club and she was an active member of Park Church of Christ in Goldfield, Iowa.
Ruby passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; two sons, Reggie and Ronald; two grandsons, Kerry and Stacy Tate and one sister, Velma Huntley. She is survived by one son, Verle and his wife Pamela of Clarion, Iowa; one daughter, Janelle and her husband, David Oneal of Adel, Iowa; one sister, Bernice Blackman and husband Gerald of Clarion; seven grandchildren: Lonney Tate and wife Kimberly of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Travis Tate and wife Stacy, Renwick, Iowa, David C. Oneal, Des Moines, Iowa, Bradley Oneal and wife Meghan, Ankeny, Iowa, Teresa Tate-Redenius and husband Andy, Waterloo, Iowa, Charissa Peters and husband Joe, Johnston, Iowa, and Carin Birt and husband Brian, Johnston, Iowa and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield with Pastor Robert Dishman officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, rural Renwick. Memorials may be directed to Park Church of Christ in Goldfield.
