Jesse North, 93, of Beloit, Wisconsin, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Fair Oaks Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in South Beloit, Illinois. Jesse was born on October 16, 1917 in Eagle Grove, Iowa the son of Perry and Lillian (Waddell) North. Jesse married Eleanor North on January 2, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She preceded him in death on December 22, 2010. He was employed as a machinist for many years at Lakeside Fuse, and Nielsen Engineering, both in South Beloit, Illinois. Jesse served in the United States Army during World War II. He and his wife enjoyed traveling with their trailer or motorhome. They visited nearly every state across our country and had been in every state west of the Mississippi River. Jesse and Eleanor also enjoyed riding their his and hers motorcycles. Jesse was a very good mechanic and enjoyed working on cars. He built his own house, his parents' house.

Jesse is survived by his granddaughter, Stacy Whitford, grandson, Shannon Petitt, great-granddaughter, Jesseca Petitt, great-grandson, Dakota Kugel, sister, Virginia (William) Olson, all of Beloit, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews, Mark (Maureen) Olson, Vilnius Lithuania, Stan (Julie) Olson, Beloit, Wisconsin; Dawn Olson, Ward, Arkansas; Butch (Ruth) North, Rockford, Illinois; and Donna (Larry) Neblock, South Beloit, Illinois; along with numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, a daughter, Marjorie Petitt, four sisters, and two half-brothers.

Funeral services are 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home in Beloit, Wisconsin with visitation one hour prior to the service. Private burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit.
