Lois M. DePue, daughter of Albert and Kathryn (Bieghtol) Hildebrand, was born July 23, 1923 in Corwith, Iowa. Lois was united in marriage to Henry DePue. To this union five children were born. Lois and Henry farmed near Cylinder for several years where they raised their family. Lois was a member of the Cylinder United Methodist Church and currently the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. She was active in church circles at both churches. Lois was a devoted homemaker and had been employed at Upper Des Moines Outreach for eight years from 1991 until 1999. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She did embroidery work as well as quilting. Lois will be remembered for her great sense of humor and she was always willing to play a game of cards. Some of her favorites were 500 and Canasta. She liked being with her friends, especially when they would get together for a game of Rumicube.

Lois died Monday, November 26, 2007 at the Emmetsburg Care Center at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John; an infant daughter, Kathy; her husband, Henry; two brothers, Glen and Roy; and two sisters, Grace Salisbury and Lucille Culbertson. She is survived by her children, Bill DePue and his wife, Judy of Cylinder, Iowa, Betty Thompson of Omaha, Nebraska and Robert DePue and his wife, Shirley of Emmetsburg, Iowa; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
