MT. PLEASANT, SC - Gloria Ann Francis Lehman, 80, beloved wife of the late Guy Walter Lehman, passed away Friday afternoon, February 18, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Hibben United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held after the service. The family will receive visitors at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Gloria was born on October 6, 1930, in Corwith, Iowa, daughter of the late Earl E. and Evelyn S. Francis. She graduated from Kearney State Teacher's college in Nebraska in 1952 and married Guy Walter Lehman on June 26, 1955. She spent the early years of her teaching career in California, and then moved with her family to Lexington, Kentucky, where she taught Physical Education in the public schools. Her husband retired Professor Emeritus of Physics from the University of Kentucky in 1990. Gloria served as the President of the University of Kentucky Woman's Club from 1997-1998. In 2001, she and her husband retired to Mt. Pleasant where Gloria became an active member of Hibben United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener, bridge player and antiques collector. She was loved for her wit, spunk and vivacious nature.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Mary Anne Larkin and her husband, Brian, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Robert Lehman and his wife, Margaret, of Carmel, IN; Kimberly Lehman Johnson and her husband, David, of Waxhaw, NC; and many loving grandchildren.
