Vernon E. Stone, 88, of Webster City, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Eldora Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Foster Chapel, with Pastor Pat Nemmers officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, north of Webster City. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and prior to the service on Saturday.

Vernon Elston Stone, son of Clarence and Olive Kahl Stone, was born October 12, 1922 at Webster City. He graduated from Lincoln High in Webster City. He served with the U.S. Air Force. In 1942, he married Donna Sarff, to this union four children were born. The couple was later divorced. He had farmed northeast of Webster City and retired in 2007.

Mr. Stone is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Trent and Connie Stone of Williams; Wade and Lucia Stone of La Mesa, CA; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristy and Tom Hall of Rocklin, CA; Jennifer and Joe Lucisano of San Diego, CA; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law; Leola and John McCollough of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents. Vernon was a member of the Holmes Baptist Church.
