Rena Venner, 91, Webster City, a former rural Blairsburg resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998 at Riverside Manor in Ames. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Vernon Lutheran Church in Dows with Rev. Glenn Kappelmann officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home, Webster City. The family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Rena Tapper, daughter of Henry and Cora Koop Tapper, was born Sept. 14, 1907 on a farm east of Webster City. She attended Liberty Township rural school and graduated from Webster City high school. On Jan. 26, 1927 she married Henry A. Venner at Iowa Falls. The couple started farming north of Blairsburg on the Venner family farm. Mr. Venner died on May 24, 1969. She continued living on the farm until four years ago when she moved to Riverside Manor.

Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and Raymond Hanson of Webster City, Thelma and Earl Boss of Ames, Barbara Venner of Ames; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Marilyn Venner of Williams; grandchildren, Rodney and Diane Hanson, Kay Anderson, Kathy Petersen, Mike and Gary Venner; eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William Henry Venner, grandson, Steven Richard Venner, brothers, John H., Jans, Edwin and Henry Tapper; sisters Hilka Tapper, Hilka Goeke, Cora Jansen, Lillian Tapper, Jennie Beisner and Hattie Arnold. She was a member of the Vernon Lutheran Church.
