June 27, 1906 --- February 17, 2001

Nola Bateman, 94, Webster City, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 at Crestview Manor Care Center. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery prior to the services. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Monday and until 12 p.m. Tuesday.

Nola Fern Dale, daughter of Francis and Tressie Pringle Dale, was born June 27, 1906 on a farm near Dows. She received her education at Dows and Blairsburg and graduated from Lincoln High in Webster City in 1925. She attended Hamilton Business College in Des Moines. On Feb. 19, 1929, she married L. W. (Pat) Bateman at Yuma, AZ. The couple resided in Medford, OR. She worked at Douglas Aircraft in California during WWII. The family returned to Webster City. She also worked at Raven Lumber as a bookkeeper, the Freeman Journal, and was bookkeeper for her husband, all in Webster City. Mr. Bateman died January 22, 1978. She moved to Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge in 1994, and to Crestview Manor in May, 1995.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Verlaine and Bill Salstrom of Olympia, WA, Pat Dahlhauser of Webster City, Belva Strain of Waterloo, Linda and Mike Rosalez of Webster City, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sons-in-law, Carol Dahlhauser and Richard Strain, and grandson, Kris Dahlhauser. She attended Faith United Methodist Church and was organist for several years for the Christian Scientist Church.
